These words include those that cannot be easily represented with pictures, emphasizing their importance in a child's expanding vocabulary.

The design of the app emphasizes spelling as a foundation for literacy. In one activity, children assist Cimo the penguin in reaching an iceberg to catch fish; correctly selecting letters adds blocks to his bridge, allowing progress. Mistakes result in Cimo falling into the water, reinforcing correct spelling through engaging gameplay.

For phonetic decoding, the app features 1,122 words that can be sounded out using common phonics rules, such as short vowels, long vowels, and vowel team combinations. It also includes words that do not follow standard rules, which require memorization. An integrated phonics component helps children blend sounds (/b/ /a/ /t/) to form words, fostering independent decoding and spelling skills without reliance on rote memorization. In another game activity, Snow the polar bear helps children practice these skills by building bridges to reach fish on icebergs; clear understanding of sounds is necessary to succeed.

The application offers progress tracking through a detailed play history for both educators and parents. Customizable settings allow for adjustment of difficulty levels—beginning with CVC words at the easy level, progressing to digraphs and blends at more advanced stages—and the number of questions can be tailored to suit individual learning paces.
